Trials and Hard Times

The other day as I was reading in the Book of Mormon something stuck out to me in one of the chapters I read. It was in the book of Helaman Chapter 12. Here we are being told about a patter that Helaman is noticing. If we read verses 2-3.
"Yea, and we may see at the very time when he doth prosper his people, yea, in the increase of their fields, their flocks and their herds, and in gold, and in silver, and in all manner of precious things of every kind and art; sparing their lives, and delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; softening the hearts of their enemies that they should not declare wars against them; yea, and in fine, doing all things for the welfare and happiness of his people; yea, then is the time that they do harden their hearts, and do forget the Lord their God, and do trample under their feet the Holy One—yea, and this because of their ease, and their exceedingly great prosperity.
And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him."
So what Helaman is tyring to tell us here is that when we are doing what we are supposed to we are going to be blessed. Then we will start to forget who gave us everything we have unless we get put through trials or go through some rough times. So God puts us through trials so that we can continually humble ourselves and remember Him. So when we start to get a little pride full or maybe just a little proud we should think about who made it possible for us to get to that point and then humble ourselves.

Mother's Day

As Mothers Day approaches I thought it would be appropriate to make a post dedicated to mothers world wide. Whenever I think of mothers I am always reminded of the story of the 2000 Stripling warriors! If we turn to Alma 53 verses 20-21 it will describe the 2000 stripling warriors and what kind of men they were. "And they were all young men, and they were exceedingly valiant for courage, and also for strength and activity; but behold, this was not all—they were men who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted. Yea, they were men of truth and soberness, for they had been taught to keep the commandments of God and to walk uprightly before him." So here it describes how good of men they were!

Then if we go to Alma 57 verse 21 It tells us who taught them so well and who had raised them to be such valiant men. "Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words which they said unto me that their mothers had taught them." So we should all thank our mothers for raising us and teaching us the things to make us the people we are today! I can proudly say I'M A MAMMA'S BOY! HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
